Biopic Fever in 2019: What’s the Deal?

Moviegoers have spoken time and time again with their movie ticket purchases. With their two thumbs up going to the latest and increasingly more popular love of blockbuster biopics. From classics like Malcolm X to the newest features like last year’s Bohemian Rhapsody, audiences love these films. Why are these films so likable, and nowadays, so prevalent? Perhaps the fans enjoy hearing the soundtrack to their favorite band or musician’s life story. On the other hand, some enjoy the fashion and history in a good period piece like Beethoven’s biopic, Immortal Beloved. Others like to see their favorite actors become icons from decades past.

Whatever the case may be, Hollywood knows that fans of cinema will eat up a good biopic. Often times, it’s a sure-fire box office buck, like those trendy Disney remakes.
