Now, there are many fall events in Austin that are virtual or COVID-safe that will help us get into the fall spirit this year. There are pumpkin patches available, such as the Texas Pumpkin Fest in Leander. So, here we’ve compiled some staff picks for local Austin events and fundraisers coming up!
October 10
First, looking to get out of the house? If so, the German-Texan Heritage Society is holding their annual festival at Stubb’s BBQ. Attendees can expect food, live music, a Biergarten, and more. Tickets are sold to tables only for $96 and can seat up to 6 family members/close friends. Additionally, mask-wearing will be enforced when you are not at your table. Enjoy some great music at Stubb’s Amphitheater. Tickets can be purchased on their website.
October 22-29
Like many events, you can enjoy the Austin Film Festival from your home this year. There will be five days of virtual panels and eight days of virtual film screenings. Also, panels will be very relatable to our industry, covering topics such as “Creating a Writing Routine” and “How research can be a writer’s best friend or enemy.” Tickets are available for $200 and grant complete access to the entire festival.
October 31
Now, spend this full moon Halloween trick-or-treating on the water this year! From 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m., there will be a variety of paddle-up trick-or-treat stations for all to enjoy. There will also be a DJ, photobooth, and costume contest on the dock. You can purchase tickets, get more information on COVID preventative measures and event time-specifics on their Eventbrite page.
October 23-24
You can get into the Halloween spirit by attending drive-in film screenings at Doc’s Drive-In Theatre in Buda. Little Shop of Horrors is playing on October 23, then The Addams Family on October 24. Tickets can be purchased on their website and go for $200 per car up to four persons. Gourmet food, drinks, and treats will be given out to each car. Proceeds go towards helping their four Central Texas non-profit partners: HAAM, Vivent Health, The Shade Project, and Southern Smoke.
November 21
Last, but not least, we’re calling all pet-lovers! The Austin Humane Society is hosting their 15th annual Rags to Wags Gala in the comfort of your own home! Attendees will receive a “party-in-a-box” with perks such as a Tito’s signature drink and access to a ‘mutt-ologist’ that can help with craft cocktails. Gala attendees can choose their own activities for the night. Take a selfie in the virtual photo booth or participate in the live or silent auction. Tickets will be available starting October 15 on their website.
We are all looking forward to this cooler weather, upcoming holidays, and an end to the seemingly endless summer. Check out these events and fundraisers so you can bring on the fall feelings!
