Three-day weekends are always exciting, and Labor Day weekend is no exception. However, the long weekend may look a little different this year. We must now abide by health guidelines regarding COVID-19. So, here are a few things you can still safely enjoy this Labor Day.
Most restaurants are offering dine-in with limited seating or takeout. So, this weekend is a great opportunity to try out a new place! You could order takeout from The Peached Tortilla, and try their unique blend of Asian and southern flavors in street food. If you’d rather opt for more casual American cuisine, Hank’s is open for takeout. They have a Café, Brunch, and Lunch/Dinner Menu.
Looking to get out of the house? You could take a socially distanced walk down South Congress Avenue and stop by some restaurants there. Perla’s Seafood and Oyster Bar is available for curbside pickup and could be a great alternative to actually heading to the coast. If you are looking for a restaurant that a slightly larger group can visit together, check out Plaza Colombian Coffee Bar. They have a large outdoor space that can accommodate groups of up to 10 people.
Staying mindful of keeping your distance from others, you could head outside. Take the famous hike up Mount Bonnell or use one of the many accesses to the Barton Creek Greenbelt. Visit the Lady Bird Boardwalk for a walk along the water. Don’t forget to hydrate and wear your mask! If you’d like to get there on a bike or another fun method, check out Get There ATX for routes and mobility ideas.
If going out isn’t for you, you could take a day to download some new apps. Are you in need of updating the virtual family scrapbooks? Check out Viiddo. Viiddo is a family milestone sharing app that can be used for privately sharing photos and videos with friends and family. Maybe you’re just trying to relax this weekend, in which case you could try out a mindfulness or meditation app. There are many apps out there for this. Calm is a great option with sleep stories, guided meditation, and music.
Even with health and safety regulations, this Labor Day weekend can still be enjoyable and a much-needed break as we start to transition into the fall season.
The team here at APPSPIRE.me wishes you a safe and fun Labor Day!
