In the COVID era, many events have been adapted to online versions. These events have included ACL, Ballet Austin’s “The Nutcracker”, and charity balls. Reaching an audience in a way that gets them to participate in their homes is challenging. Here are some tips on marketing your event online.
One of the easiest approaches your brand can take in online event marketing is creating a Facebook Event. Your brand’s page can be the host and share it to the feed. Facebook has an option where you can indicate it is online and include a link.
Followers and Likers of your brand will then see it. They can select whether they are “Interested” or “Going.” Their response will be seen by their friends. This widens the reach of the event. You can also remote your event to an audience you select by demographics. Having a public event listed on Facebook allows users browsing the event calendar to come across your event. You never know who will be interested.
Another way to get the word out about your event is by posting to event sites. People look at these when they are looking for things to do. They also help in search engines when people are searching for events. Some of these sites include Eventbrite and Eventful. You can also find other sites that list local events. Examples of this in Austin are Do512 and Austin 360.
Social media can help create awareness about your event. Use Facebook to promote the Facebook Event page. It gives the page higher visibility and can help get attendees. As for Instagram and Twitter, you can use them as supplements. Events can’t be created on those platforms but you can raise awareness. Post about the event leading up to it and direct them to a link if needed. (Putting the link in your bio is very helpful).
As with anything, update your website to promote your event. It is a piece of owned media that you can use to your advantage. Create a banner promoting it or encouraging ticket sales on the homepage. You can also make it the hero of the homepage. Be sure that all event information is present on its own page. This way, potential attendees can get all information necessary.
While it may not seem ideal to host online events, it can be an easy way to get people involved with the brand. Like any event, you want to be sure that something exciting will happen to entice people to attend. Hopefully, these tips make marketing your event a little easier.
